| Sujana Foundation gave away the medals, memento, cash prize and certificate to the first batch of 8 students who were finalized for the awards on 21st of January 2012. The criteria for the awards was on an holistic basis where the nominee’s academic excellence, overall outlook, performance in extra - curricular activities, their community work and social involvement, their publications/presentations in local, state and national level competitions were considered as parameters in screening and selection process. | ||||||
| The event was hosted at Gateway Hotel, Vijayawada. Chairman Sri Y.S. Chowdary presided over the event where Dr.Gouranga Lal Datta, Vice Chancellor, Koneru Lakshmaiah University was the Chief Guest and Sri Konakalla Narayana Rao, Member of Parliament, Machilipatnam was the honourable guest. Dr. I. V. Rao, Vice Chancellor, NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada was the special guest. | ||||||
| Addressing the event Chairman Sri Y.S. Chowdary brought in the importance of entrepreneurship based education. He assured that apart from engineering academics, the foundation is also considering the students who hail from academics of medicine and other areas to confer these medals. He also assured that there is a proposal to establish ‘Sujana Excellence Awards’ and give away the same to the outstanding contributors in the five professional domains identified by the foundation. The event was graced by heads/academicians of the respective educational institutions, parents, media persons, students and others.
